IT'S A CELEBRATION
TRAVEL & ACCOMODATION
Our wedding will be in the countryside, near the town of Mellerud, Dalsand. Below is some basic information on how to get to the area and where to stay but please contact us if you have any questions.
Section Title
We will be having the ceremony at Upperud 9:9 then will be moving on to have the reception/party in the garden of our farm. We will provide transport to Upperud 9:9 from the 3 accommodation options listed below, then to our house in the afternoon, and then back to the hotels at the end. If you need to drive to Upperud 9:9 on the day the bus can take you back there later on. For more details and times, see the On The Day page
Transport on the Day
Flights
Our nearest airport is Gothenburg Landvetter, there’s only one airport, this is just what it’s called. If you’re coming from the UK, it’s likely that you’ll be looking at RyanAir flights from Manchester or London Standstead, or British Airways from Heathrow.
Oslo is also a possibility though from Gothenburg it is easier and probably cheaper. We have no experience of going via Oslo but it’s about a 3.5 hour drive away.
Car Hire & Car Sharing
We strongly recommend that you hire or share a car as the wedding and accommodation are in areas that are hard to get to on public transport and it gives you the freedom to explore the area. There are many car hire companies available at Gothenburg airport. We’ve tried a few and they’re all pretty much as good or crap as each other. If you want to share a car with another guest, let us know which flight you’ll be on and where you’ll be staying and we’ll let you know if anyone else on your flight is interested.
The journey should take around 2.5 hours. There are a lot of speed cameras on the route so keep an eye out, there will be a blue sign before each and remember to DRIVE ON THE RIGHT!
If you are considering an electric car, charging services and the availability of stations are probably better than the UK but check charging points near or at your accommodation.
Public Transport
There are very regular shuttle buses from the airport to Gothenburg Central Station also known as Nils Ericson Terminalen/Göteborg Centralen. Tickets can be bought at a machine by the Arrivals exit or on the bus.
Our nearest train station is in Mellerud. There are trains from Gothenburg Central Station (the same place as the airport bus goes to) to Mellerud directly about every 2 hours but there are more frequent ones if you’re willing to change. The best way to look at times and book tickets is to download the ToGo app here https://www.vasttrafik.se/en/tickets/more-about-tickets/vasttrafik-to-go/ Most days, the last direct trains are around 20.30-21.00 so if you’re going to be arriving late in the day, please check train times and maybe consider an evening in Gothenburg and traveling in the morning. Note, tickets bought through ToGo must be used within 3 hours ie buy it within 3 hours of departure. You must have bought a ticket before you get on the train.
From Mellerud train station, you would have to book a taxi or get a bus towards your accommodation. There are very unlikely to be taxis waiting. Bus journeys can be planned and tickets bought on the ToGo app, as above. If you are coming via public transport it may be best to ask your accommodation which is the best way to them from the train station.

Accommodation Options
Below, we have listed some local accommodation options. We’ve aimed for a few different price ranges to suit all budgets. If possible, please book directly with the business as booking sites will take a sizeable cut. If you book at any of these please let them know you are attending our wedding and let us know where you’ll be staying so we can arrange transport on the day. We have booked out rooms at each of the following but those will become available to others in April. Please remember that many rooms will be taken up by other wedding guests and it is peak season so don’t leave it too late to book a room as they will fill up.
The following are some local choices that we’ve heard good things about. If you book at any of these, we will provide transport to the venues though please note, it probably won’t be very flexible. We’ll put times on the On The Day page when we know them.
Kroppefjäll B&B
https://www.kroppefjall.com/en/accommodation-reservation/
If you book here, please input the following code KAJSAMATT
Skålleruds Gård
https://www.skalleruds-gard.com/english-20
If you choose to stay here, please note, that for that weekend they are unable to provide breakfast but you will have access to a kitchen. Also, there are no nearby bus stops and the owners only recommend staying there if you have a car.
Håverud Hotel
https://www.haverudshotell.com/english-1/
This hotel has a large selection of different-sized rooms and apartments.
Upperud 9:9, where the wedding ceremony will be, is a fantastic hotel. It's fully booked for our wedding weekend but will be available before and after.
If you can't get a room at any of these recommendations or just want to look at some other local options, here are a few more although we don't know much about them.
The Visitor Stugby
Håveruds Herrgård
Håverud Hostel
https://www.booking.com/hotel/se/haveruds-vandrarhem.sv.html
Please note, if you were staying at any of the above three options and wanted transport on the day you would have to get yourself to and home from either Håverud Hotel, Kroppefjäll, Skålleruds Gård or Upperud 9:9.
If you’d like to come in a campervan there is a site near the wedding venue but you also need to book as it fills up. We can provide transport back to Upperud. This is not a campsite, it's only for campervans.

If you want to really treat yourself and book something a bit more fancy, this place comes recommended https://www.baldersnas.eu/ but it about a 35 minute drive from the wedding venue. Please note, if you stay here , at Baldersnäs, we can’t provide transport to or from the wedding, you will have to figure it out yourselves.
If you would like to look at other options, there are some Airbnbs, some guesthouses on Booking.com and plenty of options here, including campsites https://www.vastsverige.com/en/destinations-in-dalsland/
